Legal
Terms of Use
Enjoy the games, don't copy or resell them, and buy and refund through the store you got them from.
These terms cover the games made by Walking Ideas, including Oshiro and Rises and Falls, and the website walkingideas.com. "Walking Ideas", "we" and "us" mean the studio, based in Berkeley, California, USA. By playing our games or using the site, you agree to these terms.
Your licence
Our games are licensed, not sold. You may install and play them for your own non-commercial use, and share screenshots, videos and streams of your play, including ones that earn money. You may not copy, resell or redistribute the games or their art, music or writing; reverse engineer or modify them, except where the law allows; get around how paid content unlocks; or use them to train AI models. The games and everything in them belong to Walking Ideas or its licensors. Open-source parts are listed in each game's credits.
Stores, purchases and refunds
If you got a game from the App Store, Google Play, Steam or itch.io, that store's terms also apply, such as Apple's standard EULA or the Steam Subscriber Agreement, and they win where they conflict with these. For App Store copies, these terms are between you and us, not Apple, and Apple has no duty to support the game.
Purchases, such as unlocking the full game, are made through the store, so refunds follow its policy. An unlock belongs to your store account: use Restore purchase to open it again on a new device.
Updates and availability
We may update, change or stop offering a game or a free version of it. Progress is saved on your device, and we aren't responsible for progress lost when a device is reset or the game or browser data is deleted.
The website
You may read, link to and share the site, and use the press kit to write about our games. Please ask before copying anything else. We aren't responsible for sites we link to. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
Disclaimer and liability
The games and the site are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid for the game or purchase in question, or US$50 if you paid nothing. Nothing here removes consumer rights your local law gives you.
Ending, law and changes
You can stop at any time by deleting the game. If you break these terms, your licence ends. These terms are governed by California law, and disputes go to the courts of Alameda County, California, unless your local consumer law lets you bring them where you live. We may update these terms and will change the date at the top. Playing on after a change means you accept it.
